PLYMOUTH Argyle manager John Sheridan is not planning to get any inside information from Tareiq Holmes-Dennis ahead of the trip to Oxford United.

The left back is one of several players in the Pilgrims squad who have played for the U’s.

Holmes-Dennis has the most recent links, though, only leaving the club in January when his loan from Charlton Athletic was cut short.

His 17 appearances included a 2-1 win away to Plymouth in December, but Sheridan believes he knows all he needs about the U’s without asking for any advice.

He told the Plymouth Herald: “Obviously, Tareiq was there on loan and did well for them.

“I think he’s looking forward to trying to win the game for Plymouth.

“But I won’t be asking him for any information about Oxford. I know enough about them myself.”

Argyle go into the game in the final Sky Bet League Two play-off position and their boss admits it is a surprise to find the U’s 11 places below them.

He said: “They are not where I thought they would be in the league.

“On their day, like any team in this division, they can beat anyone, but I really try to focus on what we are going to do and get the best out of my team.

“I know if we play well, and play like we have been doing of late, we have got a good chance of winning the game.”
