A MOTOR racing team could be set to take to the track for the first time in 22 years.

Brabham Racing, which was founded in 1962 by the Australian-born triple Formula 1 world champion Sir Jack Brabham, and last raced in 1992, has passed the £250,000 it aimed to raise through a crowdfunding appeal.

The team, now led by Sir Jack's son David, which has set up a base in Banbury, plans to use the money to compete in the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship, which includes the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Leafield-based Caterham are also raising money through crowdfunding with the aim of raising £2.35m to race again after going into administration.
