MATT Bevans could miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery yesterday.

The Oxford United defender damaged ligaments playing on loan at Farnborough and is expected to take six to nine months to recover from the surgery.

Bevans, 21, made 12 appearances for the U's last season, but his competitive games in this campaign have all come at the Vanarama Conference South club.

He told United's website: "I've enjoyed playing at Farnborough and the injury has come at a bad time.

"I had a scan and then went in for the operation yesterday so now all I can do is work hard and try to come back stronger."
