SAM Long scored a hat-trick as Oxford United's development side ran out 10-1 winners at Abingdon Town.

Callum O'Dowda opened the scoring before turning provider with a free-kick for Long's first goal of the night.

Goals from Matt Bevans and Aidan Hawtin were sandwiched between a brace from James Roberts as the visitors reached the break 6-0 up.

Long added two more in the space of four minutes to complete his haul early in the second half.

Substitute Duncan Culley, on trial after scoring 39 goals for Southern League side Shortwood United last season, added a ninth.

Rob Lightfoot pulled a goal back for the North Berks League hosts, playing their first game of pre-season, but Hawtin had the last word to bring up double figures three minutes from time.
