  • "Too true, once again too little too late.
He might use the Youth team, they might be able to score a goal or two.
What sad end to the Season.
Here's hoping for a GREAT improvement next Season with better players."

We've let club down, says U's defender Hunt

Banbury Cake: Oxford United defender David Hunt Oxford United defender David Hunt

David Hunt says Oxford United’s players feel they have let the club down in recent weeks and are desperate to end their campaign on a positive note.

The final day trip to Northampton looked at one stage as if it could have been the scene for celebrations.

But just eight points from 14 games means they can finish no higher than eighth.

Hunt, who won promotion into League One with Northampton in 2006, stressed the players were determined to at least sign off in the right way.

He said: “I know how the lads are feeling and we’re so disappointed, upset, frustrated, embarrassed in a way and feel not only have we let ourselves down, but everyone down.

“We want to try for this last game and get a win, so we can at least end on a positive and then take it from there.”

Hunt has a contract beyond this summer, but is not taking anything for granted.

He said: “I don’t think anyone should feel comfortable at all with what’s happened over the last third of the season.”
