JAMES Beattie says he has had no contact from Oxford United over the vacant manager's position.

The Accrington Stanley boss was linked with the post last month and rumours have resurfaced in the last few days.

But when asked this morning about the renewed speculation at his regular weekly press conference, the former Everton and Southampton striker insisted the U's had not been in touch.

"I haven't heard anything," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"I think it's credit to the boys if my name's getting linked to jobs that are vacant.

"I haven't heard anything personally.

"Nobody has called me or emailed me or texted me.

"I'm just concentrating on our next 10 games.

"We know how important they are to the boys and the club so that's what I'm concentrating on at the moment."

Accrington can do United a favour this Saturday, as they host Plymouth Argyle, who are one place below them in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Beattie isn't an option and wasn't 5 weeks ago when the speculation first started.
If he was in the Chairman's thoughts something would have been done about it long before now.

If Beattie – who has achieved very little to date and has virtually zero managerial experience – and Tisdale – whose team are currently 3rd from bottom of the Division – are genuine contenders for the Oxford job then things are even worse than I thought. Talk about total lack of ambition. Hopefully IL does have a ‘cunning plan’ and is having to tread very carefully to get the right man. Personally, Micky Adams would get my vote but we would need to move fast as Vale are trying to get him tied in again.

And I totally agree with all the comments about sorting out the stadium. Kassam has been personally responsible for many of our troubles since he got involved. He has bled the club dry and will do so even more if we start going up the League. We have to find a way to move out as London Welsh have already decided to do …BBC quoted them as saying ‘The club are seeking a move away from the Kassam to ensure they have a venue where they can generate revenue and their own income from match and non-matchday activities’. Says it all.

We cannot move away from the Kassam because Merry signed a 25year lease which means we could only leave by paying up the balance of the term remaining.
That is not going to happen!!!!!!!
