Kitson gets all-clear to face York

Banbury Cake: Dave Kitson Dave Kitson

Dave Kitson will be available for Oxford United at York City on Saturday after the Football Association confirmed the forward was not due to serve a suspension.

The 33-year-old, who hinted yesterday in the Sun that this season could be his last, picked up a booking shortly before scoring the stoppage-time winner in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

After the game he, like many, believed it was his tenth of the season, which incurs a two-game ban.

But yesterday, the U’s received clarification from the FA that Kitson was only on nine yellow cards for the season.

The confusion arose from his sending-off against Exeter.

It was for two bookable offences, but under the regulations, the punishment came in the form of a one-match ban and does not count towards the tally.

The reprieve is only likely to postpone the suspension.

To escape a ban, Kitson would have to avoid the referee’s notebook until the cut-off period in mid-April.

For Christ's sake Dave, you are not stupid like a load of footballers. Use your head a bit and stay clear of these yellows....most of them for petty niggles and time wasting. The club need you over the festive period. Good news though !!

couldnt agree more with dave of witney ,,kitson is going to be a target for opposing teams as most of our attacks are focused through him but he should use his experience to avoid getting involved in needless situations and picking up stupid bookings..as he is a vital part of our squad and we need him on the pitch not in the stand.

No Joe not a decision in our favour, he got 2 yellow in the one game that then turned to a red and so served his 1 match ban. Not trying to be clever just pointing out little does really go our way,, even the barmy FA couldn't ban somebody twice for the same offence and my opinion that's what it would have amounted too. They are likely to get him soon tho as he has a habit of getting cards for petty offences, no disrespect Dave but some have been for petulance, I hope he at least gets into February before succumbing again.
