OXFORD City’s Aaron Burgess broke the course record by one second as he roared to victory at the Pangbourne 10K.

Burgess completed the multi-terrain course in 35mins 32secs, finishing almost a minute clear of second place.

It was a successful day for his family, as son Luke won the children’s race.

ABINGDON’S Owen Stepney broke the two-minute barrier for 800m at the Watford Open.

The 18-year-old took advantage of a strong field and good conditions to finish second in race 12, clocking 1min 59.81secs.

NOEL Blatchford enjoyed another strong race walking performance in the British Masters Athletic Federation (BMAF) 10K Championships at Leicester’s Abbey Park.

The Abingdon athlete completed the Jim Sharlott Open course in 1hr 4mins 22secs, finishing as second lady overall and first in the vet 65 category.

BICESTER’S David Kuester won the vet 65 category in the Midland (British) Masters Throws Fest at the Moorways Stadium, Derby.

Kuester set a personal best of 7.35m in the two-handed heavy hammer.
