OXFORD Hawks hosted 11 teams for the Oxfordshire County Tournaments at the weekend.
Henley finished on top in the ladies’ competition, while Banbury were too hot to handle in the men’s event.
Hawks were defending both titles, but could not put out their first teams so were always unlikely to repeat the double.
Their ladies faced Henley in the opening match and although the firsts were away at the Plum Tournament in Essex, their second string were only just edged out 1-0.
Henley went on to beat Banbury and Kidlington, but a 1-0 defeat to Witney meant they and Hawks were level on points with one game left.
But the hosts slipped up 2-0 against Banbury, meaning Henley took the title with a 2-0 win over Oxford.
Banbury were the class act in the four-team men’s tournament.
They finished with a 100 per cent record following victories against Oxford (3-1), Hawks (3-2) and Wallingford (4-1).
Oxford were their nearest challengers thanks to a 1-1 draw with Wallingford and a 1-0 win over Hawks.
