Oxford United striker Kitson is back for Rochdale test
The high-profile summer signing is in line for a start after returning to full training this week following a shoulder injury.
His introduction at half-time helped to give United a more attacking edge against Wycombe a week ago.
Kitson came close to breaking his duck in the 2-2 draw, but Wilder believes it is only a matter of time before the 33-year-old gets off the mark.
He said: “Dave’s been a bit unlucky, especially in the two home games, when he’s forced two or three fantastic saves.
“We talk about there being more to come from my team, there’s certainly more to come from Dave and I’m sure a goal is just around the corner.
“If something falls to him, I’m sure he’ll stick it away.”
There is still a doubt over top-scorer Deane Smalley (hamstring), but he could be fit enough to make the bench.
It could mean Kitson is paired with James Constable up front.
That would allow Alfie Potter to switch out wide, at the expense of Scott Davies.
United go into the game top of Sky Bet League Two as one of just three sides in the division yet to taste defeat.
The clash with Dale gives them a chance to round off the first month of the season on a high.
Defender Tom Newey, who had a loan spell at Spotland in 2009, stressed the importance of stretching the good run for as long as possible.
He said: “The manager spoke at the start of the season about wanting to go five, six, seven games where you’re unbeaten and get some momentum going.
“That’s what all successful teams do and it’s what we’ll need to do.”
Dale have no fresh injury concerns, but are without skipper Peter Cavanagh, who is serving the last of his three-game suspension for a sending off at Burton Albion.
