Pittman aiming for lift-off against Oxford United
JON-PAUL Pittman will be hoping to get off the mark for the season against Oxford United, but the striker insists there is nothing to prove to his former employers.
The forward was released in the summer following an injury-ravaged two seasons, which only saw him start 12 games.
Pittman promptly returned to Wycombe for a second spell and will be attempting to use his knowledge of United’s defence to pull off an away win.
He said: “They all know what I’m about, all my current team-mates know what I’m about.
“I don't think I have a point to prove, I just want to go there and do what I do.”
He added: “I haven't opened my account for Wycombe yet, so if that comes against my old club it’s one of those things that happens quite often in football.”
The Chairboys have lost two of their three league games and manager Gareth Ainsworth thinks the hosts are hot favourites.
He said: “It’s not often this early in the season you can be classed as the underdog, but I think we will be.
“Everyone’s saying how good they are doing.
“We’ve had a little stumbling block and hopefully we can perform and get the result we need.”
