Damian Batt wants Oxford United to repay the home fans for their backing with a strong performance against York City this afternoon.

The U’s got back on track with a 1-0 win at Plymouth Argyle a week ago and will fancy their chances of taking another three points against the struggling Minstermen.

Batt is keen to give the home fans someone to shout about, with the U’s winning just two of their last eight league games at the Kassam Stadium.

He said: “One win is great, but we haven’t had enough of them.

“We need to go into the game and put in a performance because we really need wins.

“The fans are great and it’s always good to repay them, hopefully we can go and get a win for them.”

United boss Chris Wilder could only name six substitutes at Home Park last weekend, but he will have more options today.

Michael Duberry returns to the squad after three weeks out with a hamstring strain.

Tony Capaldi and Alfie Potter have both recovered from the illness which ruled them out last weekend.

But the pair may have to make do with places on the bench, especially with Josh Parker deputising well on the right flank at Plymouth.

On paper York, who have not won in eight games since New Year’s Day, make ideal opponents.

U’s first-team coach Andy Melville is optimistic, but is wary of a backlash.

He said: “They’ve had a couple of bad results, but will regroup, get everyone together and try to be as organised as they can to make it as difficult as possible for us.

“We give the information to the players about the opposition’s strengths and weaknesses, but if we do the basics right and really focus on ourselves, individually and collectively, then we’ll never be a million miles away from getting a result.”

York have five players definitely ruled out through injury, including winger Oli Johnson (groin), who spent the second half of last season with the U’s.

Lanre Oyebanjo, who fractured his skull at Gillingham last month, could return to the squad after playing in a friendly this week.
