Belfast a new destination for Oxford flights
9:20am Wednesday 1st August 2012 in Headlines
A NEW flight to Belfast has taken off from Oxford Airport.
Operated by Manx2.com, which earlier this year launched flights to the Isle of Man and Jersey, the service will operate four flights a week to the Northern Irish capital from Kidlington.
Chris Orphanou, managing director of Oxford Airport, said: “The launch of this new scheduled service to and from Belfast gives us the opportunity to showcase the world-class facilities we have here.”
The first plane took off yesterday and flights will operate Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, leaving Oxford at 3.15pm and arriving in Belfast at 7.15pm, flying via the Isle of Man.
It costs £74.95 including taxes for a one-way trip. The equivalent flight from Gatwick ranges from £59.99 to £104.99 with easyJet.
Return flights operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, departing at 10am and arriving at 12.05pm. And on Wednesdays and Fridays they depart at 8.15am, arriving at 12.05pm.
Since starting flights to Jersey and the Isle of Man in May, Manx2.com bosses say the 18-seater aircraft have been 60 per cent full on each route on average.
