FINALLY parents of children suffering heart complaints have some certainty over the care their youngsters will receive.
The sickness of a child is a terrifying event, even for the staunchest of parents.
They try to provide stability for their child to allay the sick youngsters’ fears, but for that they need stability themselves. Not knowing, for two years now, where their sick child will end up being treated will have been an additional hell for parents across the country.
It’s not a criticism of the health officials because they will have an honest belief that the changes they first mooted in 2010 will ultimately prove the best for patients.
But a combination of circumstances have led to a long drawn-out process that hopefully ended last night.
It is time to move forward and concentrate on making this partnership between Oxford and Southampton seamless and the best it can be for our children.
