IRISH pub landlord Aidan Murphy and his wife Noreen are looking forward to raising a pint of Guinness to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
Today is the Feast of St Patrick and there will be special celebrations throughout the weekend at The King’s Head and Bell pub in Abingdon, and at other pubs across the county, including O’Neill’s in George Street, Oxford.
Mr Murphy is from Longford in the Republic of Ireland while wife Noreen is from Killorglin in County Kerry and they took over running the pub in December.
The landlord invited drinkers to enjoy ‘the craic’ and guest ales at the pub in East St Helen Street which started its festivities last night with a quiz. Mr Murphy said: “Our St Patrick’s Day celebrations are part of our spring beer festival, which runs until Sunday.
“On Friday we will have live Irish music from 9pm, and on Saturday we will be showing 6 Nations Rugby with Ireland taking on England.
“Then on Sunday there will be more live folk music and Morris Men.”
