DRIVERS on the A34 were faced with major delays yesterday afternoon after four vehicles crashed near Weston-on-the-Green.

One lane was blocked northbound and traffic was backed up to the Pear Tree Interchange. Ambulances were called, but emergency services were unable to say if anyone was injured.

In a separate incident on Saturday a woman was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital after a Ford Focus car crashed into a lorry on the Eastern by-pass. The road was blocked southbound by the Headington roundabout, with traffic backing up in North Way.

South Central Ambulance Service said that it got a call about the crash at 10.50am.

An ambulance and a rapid response car were sent to the scene. The road was cleared by 1.40pm.

Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Lucy Billen said: “We were called at 10.51am to an incident involving a Ford Focus car, driving on the inside lane of the Eastern by-pass near Horspath Road, which had collided with a stationary lorry in the lorry park at the side of the road.”

Police were also called to a crash involving two cars on Saturday on the A415 in Marcham Road, Abingdon, near the interchange. Faringdon Road was blocked for a short time.
