A QUAD bike, which a farmer bought to replace his elderly collie dog two weeks ago, has been stolen.

The red Honda bike was taken by thieves who disabled several security alarms, locks and bolts from Brian Cannon’s shed in Crow Lane, Great Bourton, near Banbury.

Mr Cannon, 70, said: “I wanted to use it to round sheep. I had a collie but I thought I’d get a quad bike. All the other farmers seem to have them.

“I only rode it twice. It was brand new. Hardly anyone knew I had it.

“To replace it will cost me £6,500 because it has a spray unit on the back.”

Mr Cannon said: “It’s not like it was left out. It was locked in my shed with alarms and locks on all of my gates and a bolt to stop people opening the door too wide. They smashed and cut through the lot and trashed the place. They were obviously professionals who knew it was there.”

The theft happened between 4pm on Wednesday and 8am on Thursday.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
