CINDERELLA came to the county, but she wore ballet shoes instead of her glass slipper.

The Vienna Festival Ballet company performed the show twice on Sunday at the Mill Arts Centre in Banbury as part of their nationwide tour.

Ballet mistress Emily Hufton, originally from Abingdon, said: “It’s a great ballet for kids because there’s so much humour.

“It’s a really, really fun ballet to watch.” Jodie McKnight, 22, played one of the evil step-sisters, Clarinda.

She said: “I absolutely love getting to play a diva. I’ve never had the opportunity to play a character like this before.

“This version of Cinderella is based on the opera, so it’s much more about the story.

“It’s very different from how other companies would perform it. It’s a really nice spin on the tale.”
