A BARRY charity has been invited to the House of Lords in recognition of the fundraising work it has done for others.

Paul Adamson, who set up the Jamie Adamson Memorial (JAM) Fund in 2005, said that the charity had been invited to London after previously raising money for the Children with Cancer UK charity. Paul, who ran the London Marathon in aid of Children with Cancer in 2005 and 2012, will attend a reception at Black Rods gardens at the House of Lords on June 26.

The Baroness Thornton of Manningham is hosting the reception to celebrate 25 years of scientific achievements funded by the Children with Cancer UK charity.

Paul, who works at Dow Corning, welcomed the invitation and the recognistion for the charity. “It’s a great honour,” he said. “It’s not often you get invited to the House of Lords!

“It’s not about me though, it’s a great honour for the JAM Fund.

“For a charity of our size to have the recognition of being invited to an event like this is an honour

“I’m pleased that the charity has been recognised and that Jamie’s name and memory has been remembered.” He added: “We have raised over £400,000 and have far exceeded our expectations.

“We have been able to help a lot more children than we ever thought possible, both with financial donations and sponsored equipment bought.”

Paul added that the JAM Fund would also like to thank Norma Manning, who recently donated £202 to the charity in memory of her husband Graham Manning.

“The charity would like to express our thanks to Mrs Manning and her family for their thoughts at such a sad time,” said Paul.

If you would like to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in October on behalf of the JAM Fund please get in touch with the charity. “We don’t ask people to raise vast sums of money and we provide them with sponsorship forms and a vest,” added Paul.
