Honda to cut 800 jobs in Swindon
8:59am Friday 11th January 2013 in Headlines By Ellie Simmonds
HONDA plans to cut 800 jobs in Swindon, it was announced this morning.
The plant employs a number of people from Oxfordshire and has parts suppliers based in the county.
It is not yet known how these will be affected.
The firm said the changes were to "ensure the long term stability of its future business" after low demand in European markets.
Sustained conditions of low demand in European markets make it necessary.
A consultation has been announced.

Most workers are employees of employment agencies. No holiday pay and minimum redundancy or employee rights.
