SIX British soldiers killed in Afghanistan are due to be repatriated to Oxford tomorrow.
Warrant Officer Class 1 Darren Chant, 40, Sergeant Matthew Telford, 37, and Guardsman Jimmy Major, 18, from the Grenadier Guards, and Corporals Steven Boote, 22, and Nicholas Webster-Smith, 24, from the Royal Military Police, were killed last week by an Afghan policeman they had been helping to train. The body of an unnamed soldier from 3 Rifles will also be flown into RAF Lyneham, in Wiltshire.
After a private ceremony for the men’s families, their coffins will be driven to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Headington, where post mortem examinations will be carried out for inquests.
As has become customary, members of the Oxfordshire branch of the Royal British Legion will line part of the route where the cortege approaches the hospital entrance in Headley Way, Headington.
The cortege is expected to be approaching the hospital at about 4.30pm.
For the latest information on when the cortege is expected to arrive, see oxfordmail.co.uk
