SPORTY staff from an Oxford law firm and their clients peddled and trekked through the county to raise money for children's charities, including Helen & Douglas House hospices.

As part of a global day of sporting challenges, fundraisers from Clyde & Co joined by the firm's Düsseldorf team, gathered in Oxfordshire for the charity effort, which saw 90 people join a 12 mile walk and 40 and 60 mile cycle rides.

The group, which included around 20 staff from Clyde & Co's office in Rowan Place on the Oxford Business Park in Cowley, raised a mammoth £25,350 in the effort, which began in Cholsey, near Wallingford.

The Oxford total, which is still being finalised, will be split between Helen & Douglas House, in East Oxford, and UK charity partner, Together for Short Lives.

The firm's Follow the Sun fundraiser has raised more than £80,000, with 25 Clyde & Co offices in 11 countries taking part and 850 employees involved in some form of volunteering or sport activity.

The global event began at sunrise in Sydney on September 15 and ended at sunset in San Francisco.

Offices everywhere from Australia to Canada and the Far East organised various sporting events, raising money for palliative care charities.

Clyde & Co senior partner Simon Konsta, from London, joined fundraisers in Oxfordshire. He said: "I'd like to congratulate and thank everyone who took part in our inaugural Follow the Sun charity challenge, especially clients who joined us on the day and those who have generously supported us with donations.

“When we launched Follow the Sun we wanted a global charity initiative that included and engaged the firm's diverse and growing international network, bringing everyone together on one day to raise money for one cause. We're very happy to have raised money for such worthy recipient charities around the world."
