A family were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in home in Didcot.

Firefighters were called out at 11.45pm yesterday to the blaze in a flat in Mendip Heights.

Two fire engines attended from Didcot and dealt with the flames soon after arriving.

Two girls ages six and two and a man and a woman in their 20s were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital suffering from the affects of the fire.

Two or three neighbours were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue service said fire investigators had been at the scene this morning.

Thames Valley Police added nearby roads were closed for a short time and that the fire was contained in the one flat.

The cause of the fire has not been established yet.
