NEWLYWEDS have spoken of their devastation after thieves stole wedding gifts and travel vouchers from their reception venue.

Dave and Joe Earle, from Ruscote in Banbury, got married in Turkey three weeks ago and held a reception at Bonitos Wine Bar in the town on Saturday night.

But three thieves broke into the building the next day and took the presents, which had been left next to the bar, as well as a cash till and alcohol.

The couple, who have been together for 14 years, asked for guests to give Thomas Cook vouchers so they could visit Mr Earle’s family in Jamaica for their honeymoon at Christmas.

But it is unlikely they will be able to fund the trip unless the presents are recovered.

Mr Earle, 51, said: “So many people went out of their way to buy us those gifts and we just feel sorry for them. It is going to be very difficult for us to raise the money again in less than three months, which is obviously very upsetting.”

Mr Earle owns Spit ‘n’ Sawdust fitness gym in North Bar Street.

Thames Valley Police confirmed three people broke into the bar in White Lion Walk between 3.30pm and 3.50pm on Sunday.

They were seen entering and leaving the bar via the fire door and then walked into the churchyard at St Mary’s.
