So far during this financial year, £88,842 has been given to youth organisations, including the £11,000 set to be approved by county council cabinet member for public health Hilary Hibbert-Biles on Wednesday.

The organisations had applied for a total of £19,682 but council officers have recommended to Ms Hibbert-Biles that only £11,000 be approved.

County council director for children’s services Jim Leivers said in his report: “We know that how children and young people spend their leisure time has an important influence and impact on their resilience and their quality of life.

“The fund supports the aspirations of those working with children and young people in Oxfordshire to ensure all children and young people can access positive activities in their leisure time by 2020.”
