A MAN who went missing from the Littlemore Hospital site was on planned leave from the hospital at the time, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has said.

Daniel Wilson was found on Tuesday evening in Bicester after being missing for four days.

The trust faced criticism last year after life prisoner Ian McLean, from Banbury, walked out of an unlocked unit and travelled to Poland before he was found. He later hanged himself while he was waiting for extradition.

Trust spokesman Chris Kearney said of Wilson: “The patient was on planned leave from the hospital at the time they went missing.”

He refused to give any more details about how Wilson was supervised on the planned leave or circumstances of his disapperance, citing patient confidentiality.

He said: “The rehabilitation of forensic patients usually involves managing them through a structured clinical pathway that involves greater degrees of liberty.

“An aspect of this includes leave from secure units to allow them to prepare for community reintegration.”

Wilson, 33, was sectioned earlier this year after biting a man he had threatened in Witney and dragging him over broken glass.
