The county’s air ambulance will begin night flights next year.

Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance will be able to respond to emergencies across Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

The current service launched in 1999 and has so far flown 15,273 missions, averaging three missions a day at around £2,500 each.

Previously the former Thames Valley Police helicopter had answered calls for an air ambulance at night.
