DESPITE the scoreline Brook had to battle all the way for a hard fought 42-10 win as always at St Cuthberts who kept their visitors to only a slender two point lead at half time.

Brook opened the scoring after only five minutes Jon Glover was held up over the try line before Danny Fairhurst sent Sean Richardson rampaging towards the try line Brooks powerful Second Row man had too much strength and forced his way over with Stephen Parkinson converting.

The visitors had a lot defending to do as St Cuthberts launched three consecutive sets in Brooks 20 Metre area before Craig Lyon cleared the danger.

The Wigan outfit levelled the scores soon after when speedy full back Michael Scrivens spotted a gap in the defence and raced clear from half way to score with Brad Sheridan converting.

Scrivens almost scored again minutes later however Danny Fairhurst and Craig Lyon did enough to bundle him into touch as he stretched out to score.

Five minutes later Brook regained the lead from an attacking scrum Tom Hurst joined the attack and looped around Kyle Smith to take the pass and race away into corner with Parkinson goaling from the touch line.

As half time approached a 40/20 gave the home side the opportunity for a final assault on the Brook try line and got their rewards when Scrivens went over again for an unconverted try.

Brook almost scored in the opening minute of the second half Sean Richardson broke down the left and chipped the ball inside it just evaded the grasp of Danny Fairhurst.

However minutes later the visitors were on the attack again and Mark Webster waltzed through a static defence to increase the lead with Parkinson adding an easy conversion.

Midway through the half Tom Hurst scored a carbon copy of his first try showing too much pace for the home sides defence as he linked up from full back to score in the corner with Parkinson again converting from the touch line.

Almost immediately from the re-start Ian Honey from broke clear from the ruck he was well supported by Kyle Smith who raced away to score under the posts.

St Cuthberts defence began to tire in the heat Jack Parker broke clear from a scrum 20 metres from his own line and showed a clean pair of heels as he raced away to score.

Brook’s final try was Sean Richardson second of the game debutant Mark Seary made the initial break to take play into the home sides territory the play was taken on Kyle Smith who found Richardson in support to go over and score.

Steve Parkinson added his seventh conversion from as many attempts to wrap up the scoring.

Sean Richardson was selected as The Tisdalls Man of the Match just ahead of Ian Honey and Jonathon Glover picked up the TL Commercials Players Man of the Match.
