Police have confirmed MP Sir Tony Baldry , left, will not face any further action after he lost control of his car and crashed into a shop, three other cars, and a portable toilet.

The incident happened earlier this month in Banbury, when the MP’s automatic Mercedes shot off when he bent down to pick up a dropped ticket. Despite Sir Tony trying to regain control, the car veered through the car park, took out a portable toilet, went over a small drop into a neighbouring road and then hit the wall of a Poundland store.

It then hit a parked van and three stationary cars before coming to a rest against a concrete pillar, a witness said.

No one was injured and Sir Tony is understood to have given a negative breath test to police. Breath tests are standard procedure in crashes.

A police spokesman said: “No further police action is going to be taken.”
