One of the men involved in a raid on a Banbury jeweller’s has admitted the offence.

Jimmy Stringer was tackled to the ground by a member of the public after the raid on the Michael Jones shop in Banbury High Street last Tuesday.

The 23-year-old, of Maryland Walk, Popham Street, Islington, appeared at Oxford Crown Court yesterday and admitted one count of robbery.

He was remanded in custody and told to expect a lengthy prison sentence when he is sentenced on November 9.
