BANBURY MP Sir Tony Baldry lost control of his car and crashed it into a shop, three other cars ... and a portable toilet.

Sir Tony had parked his black Mercedes car in Banbury and said the automatic vehicle had shot off when he bent down to pick up a dropped shopping ticket.

Despite the MP trying to regain control, the car veered through the car park, took out a portable toilet, went over a small drop into a neighbouring road and then hit a wall of a Poundland store.

It then hit a parked van and three stationary cars before coming to a rest against a concrete pillar, a witness said.

No one was injured in the incident on Friday and Sir Tony is understood to have given a negative breath test to police. Breath tests are standard police procedure in crashes.

Sir Tony told the Sun newspaper: “It was a very scary incident. I tried to stop it. My right foot was outside the scar as the car was accelerating. I was seeking to avoid hitting anything. No one was injured.

“Those whose cars were hit were extremely understanding.”
