People convicted of offences at Oxfordshire magistrates' courts recently:

OXFORD

Gary Hughes , 44, of Cumnor Road, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) and assaulting Pc Phillip Ansell in Saunders Road, Oxford, on May 20. Given a 12-week jail term, suspended for a year. Given a year’s supervision with a requirement to attend the Thinking Skills programme for 19 days. Also told to pay £85 costs.

Lea Norton , 23, of Pagisters Road, Abingdon-on-Thames, admitted drink driving in Drayton Road, Abingdon, on April 28 and failing to surrender to court bail on June 22. Had 70 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £110, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £100 costs. Banned from driving for three years.

Nicholas Goodall , 41, of Nuthatch Close, Oxford, admitted handling stolen goods – an iPad – in Oxford on April 23. Fined £110, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Garet Sloggett , 64, of Willowbrook, Stanton Harcourt, convicted of two counts of fraudulently claiming council tax benefit and housing benefit in Witney between October 2010 and May 2011. Given a four-month curfew between the hours of 8pm and 12pm and told to pay £500 costs.

Naomi McCollin , 24, of Blay Close, Oxford, admitted shoplifting two legs of lamb valued at £49.87 from Waitrose in Oxford on May 3. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £23.98 compensation and £40 costs.

Gilton Cakalli , 25, of New Road, Oxford, admitted fraud by false representation by falsely claiming his mobile phone had been stolen in order to receive a new one in Oxford on November 29. Fined £180, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £450 costs.

Adam Hopton , 20, of Holly Close, Highmoor Cross, admitted possessing heroin (Class A) in Henley-on-Thames on April 10. Fined £100, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Michael Leslie , 30, of Paradise Street, Oxford, admitted failing to attend a drug assessment follow-up appointment in Oxford on May 25 and failing to surrender to court bail on July 2. Fined £100 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

Anton Dublin , 20, of Kelburne Road, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Oxford on March 9. Told to pay £30 costs and given a six-month conditional discharge.

Christopher Marsh , 27, of Kysbie Close, Abingdon-on-Thames, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Abingdon on March 9. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs.

Darryl Vincent , 21, of Southern Avenue, Henlow, Bedfordshire, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm in Abingdon on May 19. Fined £150, a £15 victims’ surcharge, £85 costs and £200 compensation.

Nathan Richens , 18, of Crabtree Lane, Drayton, admitted assault by beating in Drayton on November 6 and possessing a knife in public in a field next to the B4017 in Drayton on the same date. Also admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of immediate unlawful violence and assaulting a police constable in Drayton on June 4. Told to pay £100 costs and given six months’ supervision.

Malcolm Plaisted , 25, of Paradise Street, Oxford, admitted shoplifting four cans of Stella Artois lager from Tesco in Botley on June 8. Jailed for 21 days.

Alberts Rimjans , 44, of Chalvey Road West, Slough, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Oxford on April 17 and failing to surrender to court bail on June 12. Fined £100 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

Sarah Creed , 27, of Fernhill Close, Tiddington, admitted drink-driving on the A418 in Wheatley on June 23. Had 93 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Given 80 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £65 costs. Banned from driving for 23 months.

Akbar Khan , 23, of Mill Street, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Thirst bar, Park End Street, on June 23. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £65 costs.

BANBURY

Nicholas Wells , 42, of Tristram Road, Ducklington, admitted assaulting two police constables – Mark Carpenter and Philip Hampton – and Martin Weaving by beating in Witney on March 3. Told to do 150 hours’ unpaid work and pay £350 compensation with £85 costs.

Gregorey Nicolas , 55, of The Landings, South Cerney, Gloucestershire, admitted shoplifting a £172 bag from Radley in Bicester Village on April 3. Fined £110, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Dale Colley , 33, of Dashwood Road, Oxford, admitted shoplifting £190 of aftershave from Debenhams in Banbury on July 5 and two counts of committing an offence while subject to a suspended sentence. Jailed for four months.

Christian-Mihai Lihaciu , 28, of Blackborne Road, Dagenham, admitted going equipped for theft in Bicester on June 23 with a foil bag, small magnetic de-tagging device, wire cutters and pliers. Given 100 hours’ unpaid work with £85 costs.

Emilian Manaz , 28, of Blackborne Road, Dagenham, Essex, admitted going equipped for theft in Bicester on June 23 with a foil bag, small magnetic de-tagging device, wire cutters and pliers. Given 100 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £85 costs.

Mourad Adi , 41, of St Charles Square, London, admitted stealing sunglasses valued at £863.32 in Bicester on June 20. Given a two-year conditional discharge and told to pay £150 compensation and £85 costs.

Paul Gardiner , 49, of Folliejohn Way, Maidenhead, convicted of driving without insurance in Broadway, Didcot, on July 27, 2011. Fined £165, a £15 victims’ surcharge and banned from driving for six months.
