First Great Western services between Oxfordshire and London Paddington are still suffering long delays after a person was hit by a train in West London this afternoon.

Many services from the capital to Didcot Parkway and Oxford are delayed by up to 45 minutes but the 6.22pm from London to Hereford via Oxford and the Cotswold Line through west Oxfordshire is currently running 90 minutes late.

Disruption is expected to last until close of service tonight, because of trains and crews being out of position as a result of the earlier problems.

First Great Western tickets to Oxfordshire destinations are being accepted on Chiltern Railways services from London Marylebone to Haddenham & Thame Parkway, Bicester North and Banbury.

Problems began at about 5pm when a person was struck by a London to Oxford train between Hayes & Harlington and West Drayton stations.

All four lines through the section affected were closed to trains until about 6.30pm, when two tracks were reopened. Trains were allowed to use other two lines shortly after 8.30pm.
