THIS is a group with something to cheer about.
Oxford Brookes Bluebirds, the university’s cheerleading team, have been crowned champions after a national competition.
They came first out of the nine teams from other universities around the country taking part in their division.
As a result they are now national co-ed level two champions.
Grace Farmer, 21, is co-captain of the 32-strong team, which takes both male and female members.
She said: “We are absolutely ecstatic. It is a massive deal for us.
“Brookes has had a team for around five years and this is the first time we have won anything.
“We have been working really hard since October.”
At the competition last month their routine was judged the best by a panel of three judges.
They were competing against teams such as the Cambridge Cougars and the Essex Flames.
