A BUILDING firm worker who died after a forklift truck accident was yesterday named as David Hewson.
The 60-year-old Osterley Grove, Banbury, resident died following the accident at Jewson in Beaumont Street, Banbury, on Friday.
The incident happened at 3.40pm and Mr Hewson was taken to the Horton General Hospital, Banbury, where he died a short time later.
Jewson spokesman Sharon Kerby said: “The relevant authorities will be carrying out a full investigation.
“Jewson is totally committed to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, and we will co-operate fully and do all that we can to support the authorities, in addition to carrying out our own health and safety investigation.
“Our thoughts are with David’s family at this very difficult time.”
Thames Valley Police said the next of kin had been told Mr Hewson was the victim.
An investigation will be carried out by Cherwell District Council instead of the Health and Safety Executive as the incident happened at a retail premises.
The death has been reported to the Oxfordshire coroner Nicholas Gardiner.
