The faces of budding Oxfordshire models could soon be on billboards and catwalks across the world.

The winners of the Face of Oxfordshire competition, run by Fox FM and Andrea and Achille hair salon, each harbour dreams of glittering modelling careers.

They beat off competition from more than 600 entrants across Oxfordshire to each win a modelling contract with their photographs at hair salons across the county.

Lucy Frearson, 20, of Besselsleigh, winner of the female 16- to 29-year-old category, has already been scouted by a London modelling agency.

But the fashion student was not even aware she was in the running before she was announced the winner.

She said: "The thought of my picture being in a salon window is daunting, but exciting and I can't stop laughing.

"My brother put me forward for the competition, but didn't tell me.

"Then I got a phone call and I thought what is this about? I was really shocked to win.

"When I was a little girl, people would ask me what do I wanted to do when I'm older - and I always said I wanted to be a model.

"It's so much fun."

Meanwhile builder Adam Paget, of Chinnor, won the men's 16 to 29 age group.

The 22-year-old hopes one day to leave his job at Heathrow Airport and take up professional modelling.

He said: "I've wanted to do modelling for some time and this is an opportunity.

"I would definitely like a career in modelling. This is a stepping stone and a great experience.

"My builder mates are supportive and 100 per cent behind me. Some of them have teased me, but my closest friends are all behind me."

All winners now receive a modelling contract worth £1,500 to be the face of Andrea and Achille.

More than 600 applicants were whittled down to ten finalists, but the over 30s male category was cancelled because only two entries were received.

Andrea Dicuffa, owner of the chain of hair salons, said: "This competition has exceeded our expectations. I am so happy with the three we have chosen and you can expect to see them all over Oxfordshire next year."
