There was a tremendous turn-out at Keirs Park on Sunday as two Hill of Beath Hawthorn stalwarts were honoured.

The testimonial for former goalkeeper Stuart Hall and long-time defender Rikki Dair – who played more than 750 games for the club between them – saw select sides chosen by the duo battle it out in front of a good crowd.

Rikki Dair, played 353 games for the Keirs Parkers, and scored 18 goals, as the club challenged for the East Super League title in the junior ranks, and then stepped up to the seniors by joining the East of Scotland League.

Stuart Hall played for Raith Rovers, Thornton Hibs, Montrose and the Haws, and arrived at Keirs Park in 2009, made his debut away to Bathgate and went on to play 420 games, recording 101 shut-outs.

The bragging rights on the day belonged to Rikki’s team, with a 5-1 win, thanks to goals from Barry Smith, Calum Adamson, Russell Grierson, Adam Moffat and Shaun Leishman; with Aaron Hay scoring for Stuart’s team.

After the game over 100 people gathered at Hill of Beath Ex-Servicemen’s Club to see a special presentation to these Haws legends.

Former Haws manager, John Mitchell presented Rikki with his trophy; and Scottish OVD Cup winning goalkeeper, Davie Westwood, made the presentation to Stuart.

Club general manager, Jock Finlayson, who signed both these stalwarts during his 40 years as club boss, said: “A fantastic day for two of the club’s legendary players, who between played their part in the journey to the senior ranks.

“It was a great game, with plenty of good banter, and memories were shared in the club later.”
