A Cowley Road-based business is aiming to raise £1,500 for Parkinson’s UK during April after one of its co-owners was diagnosed with the illness.
JoJo’s Cafe Bar's owners, Jonathan and Josephine Corp, decided to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK following Mr Corp’s diagnosis.
He said: "I have been humbled by the support from our regulars since my diagnosis of Parkinson’s.
"However, since launching our appeal for raffle prizes, I am absolutely staggered at the generosity of local businesses who have rallied around this initiative and provided some amazing prizes."
More than 30 raffle prizes have been donated by businesses, with new additions nearly every day.
Raffle tickets priced at £2 can be bought from JoJo's Cafe Bar or online at where a list of prizes is available.
Mr Corp continued: "I don't want people to feel sorry for me – I am relatively young for the condition and feel lucky to have been diagnosed at an early stage of Parkinson’s.
"With a cure on the horizon, Jo and I are making it our mission to raise as much money as we can for Parkinson’s UK to help with research and speed-up a cure."
The pair embarked on their charitable mission on March 30 with a 90's RnB DJ event that raised more than £250.
A series of fundraising events will include a grand raffle set for April 29, the night of the fully booked JoJo's Parkinson's quiz night.
The initiative will continue with regular fortnightly jamming sessions and a performance by band The Bontemps playing Funk 'n' Soul on April 20.
April will also see World Parkinson’s Day take place on April 11.
Parkinson's is the fastest-growing neurological condition globally without a cure, affecting approximately 145,000 people in the UK.
It has more than 40 symptoms, including tremors, pain, and anxiety.
Parkinson’s UK is the biggest charitable funder of research into Parkinson's in Europe, leading treatments and searching for a cure.
Mr and Mrs Corp plan to host more fundraising events in the coming months.
They are always welcoming more donations for raffle prizes, aiming to assist the charity in developing better treatments and a potential cure for the condition.
