A primary school has received a donation of 30 high-vis jackets from Wantage’s newest care home.
The donation from Charlton Lodge to Charlton Primary School aims to start conversations about safety, especially during commutes to and from school.
Sam Campbell, head of school, said: "We were delighted to receive the high-vis jackets from Charlton Lodge for the pupils.
"Educating children about staying safe is incredibly important, and this provides the perfect opportunity to open up conversations about topics such as road safety.
"They will prove very useful, particularly for children as they walk to and from school."
Justin Daley, construction project manager at Care UK, said: "As we progress with construction of Charlton Lodge, we were keen to join forces with Charlton Primary School as part of our ongoing commitment to playing an active role in our community and building relationships with our new neighbours.
"We understand the importance of safety and were keen to educate the youngsters of Wantage on the value of Personal Protective Equipment, and how it can help to keep us safe, whether that’s walking home from school or working on a construction site."
The construction of Charlton Lodge is almost complete, with an opening scheduled this September.
The new home has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while simultaneously promoting independence.
The site will feature space for hobby and leisure activities, with the layout configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room.
