OXFORDSHIRE councils are 'myth-busting' about what materials are recyclable ahead of National Recycle Week 2018.

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils are holding a number of events across southern Oxfordshire next week, aiming to give residents the chance to ask experts about collections and what happens to the waste after it is picked up.

Special recycling stalls will give out advice and 'recycling goodies' between 10am and 2pm, at Waitrose, Wallingford (Monday); Thame Market in Upper High Street (Tuesday); Abingdon Community Free Space shop, Bury Street (Wednesday); Wantage Leisure Centre (Thursday) and Asda, Wheatley (Friday).

South Oxfordshire District Council’s Cabinet Member for waste and recycling, Caroline Newton, said: “Up to 80 per cent of household waste can be recycled and the councils offer lots of recycling information online, including our Binzone app which gives details of collections and of individual items which can be recycled.”
