DESPITE changes designed to make the exams 'tougher', Oxford's schools produced another strong performance in this year's A-Level exams.

Many out-performed the national average for the number of A* and A grades awarded.

Schools also bucked the national trend which saw a slide in the number of A* to C grades from 70 per cent last year to 78.4 per cent.
