A BOY aged just nine was threatened with a knife by two other young boys as they stole his bike.

The 'frightening' daylight robbery happened in Hanwell Fields Park in Banbury last week, and police have now urged witnesses to come forward.

Officers said the victim was approached by the boys, described as white and about 10-years-old, near the football fields in Rotary Way.

They threatened him with a knife and stole his bike before abandoning it elsewhere.

The robbery happened between 6pm and 7pm on Friday, June 29 and the boy was not harmed despite the threats.

One boy had blonde hair and wore blue shorts and a black top with white writing on it, while the other had ginger hair and was wearing grey shorts and a grey and black striped t-shirt.

Investigating officer PC Hannah Stringfellow, based at Banbury police station, said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in the park between 6pm and 7pm on Friday, or from anyone who believes that they may know the offenders.

"This was a frightening incident for the victim, but I would like to reassure the community that I believe this to have been an isolated incident.
