AN ICONIC Oxfordshire band have announced a reunion – reforming at the festival they launched.

Country-rock band Goldrush, formed by brothers Robin and Joe Bennett, pictured, and also featuring guitarist Garo Nahoulakian, bassist Nick‘Growler’ Fowler and drummer Graham Roby, were a regular fixture at Truck Festival – the event the Bennetts founded in their home village of Steventon in 1998.

Now they are to return to their roots with a get-together, revisiting such classic albums as Ozona, The Heart is the Place and Don’t Bring Me Down.

Fans may also be treated to songs from the band’s previous incarnation, Whispering Bob – named in honour of Steventon’s celebrity broadcaster ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris, who has long been a supporter of the band’s members and their various projects.

Favourite tunes included crowd-pleaser Pocket Socket Rocket.

Although the Bennetts no longer run the festival, they are still involved, performing with various acts and curating its Veterans and Virgins stage, which they will headline.

The Bennetts both currently play with another country-rock band The Dreaming Spires, while Robin also performs with the trio Bennett Wilson Poole.

Garo and Growler are members of Wheatley singer-songwriter, and former Supergrass frontman, Gaz Coombes’ backing band.

The announcement follows the reunion of fellow Oxford band, Ride  though is likely to be smaller in scale. Ride returned with a tour of Europe, North America and the Far East and huge festival dates, including Glastonbury and Coachella.

Joe Bennett, who still lives in Steventon, said: “This is going to be a lot of fun. The set list is all killer no filler!”

The festival takes place at Hill Farm, Steventon, from July 20-22.

Also on the line-up are Gaz Coombes, De La Soul, Circa Waves, Little Comets, George Ezra, Jake Bugg, The Courteeners, Editors, Peace, The Amazons and scores more artists.
