THERE have been more complaints about travellers today after caravans turned up overnight on a village green near Wallingford.

Around six caravans, along with dogs and a pony, have been spotted by concerned residents on the Stadhampton site, which is owned by the parish council.

Oxford Mail:

Sheila Murphy, who lives near the village, said: "I saw them when I came into the village earlier.

"They weren't here yesterday so they must have arrived overnight.

She added: "I haven't seen any damage so far but it is concerning when there's dogs and a pony.

"The police should be checking for microchips and that the pony has the required passport to travel."

She said it was the second time this month caravans had pitched up in the south oxfordshire village.

It also follows reports earlier today of caravans 'churning' up a cricket pitch in Bicester.

Oxfordshire County Council spokesman Martin Crabtree said: "We are assisting Stadhampton Parish Council, the landowners, and have issued landowners’ notices this afternoon."
