POLICE need help to solve some of the latest crimes in Oxfordshire, including a hit-and-run in Oxford and a sex attack in Faringdon. 

The past week has seen Thames Valley Police appeal for witnesses of more than a dozen crimes in the county, some of which are summarised below: 

  • Police are searching for the driver of a silver car after a woman was injured in a hit-and-run in Oxford.

The 29-year-old woman was struck in Donnington Bridge Road at 8.40am on Tuesday and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers are trying to trace the driver, who failed to stop at the scene.

Anyone with information over the crash should call police 101 and quote the reference 270 of 8/5.

  • An attempted robbery saw a 23-year-old man threatened with an eight-inch knife in a Grove alleyway.

Police appealed for witnesses but said the attack, in which the victim was also kicked in the head, was an isolated incident.

The attempted robbery happened at about 9pm on Monday, April 16, and nothing was stolen. 

Police urged anyone with information to call 101 and quote ref 43180114675.

  • A man sexually assaulted a woman after pushing her against a wall in the early hours of the morning in Faringdon. 

Police said he was wearing sunglasses, a gold lip ring, a black hooded top and a black baseball cap. 

He approached a woman in Southampton Street at 1.30am last Monday (May 7), forced her against a wall and touched her over her clothing. 

He was white, thought to be in his 20s and carried a clear protein shake bottle.

Thames Valley Police said the victim was walking along London Road near Bicester Village at about 10.50am on Wednesday, when a male cyclist rode past and touched her inappropriately.

CCTV images have now been released in connection with the assault.

  • A woman needed hospital treatment after being glassed in the face at a Banbury strip club.

The 24-year-old victim was left with a 2cm cut to her left eyebrow following the unprovoked attack in Venus Nightclub, also known as Mirage. 

Her attacker was described as a small man of Mediterranean appearance.

He was wearing a suit and launched the attack at about 3.30am on the Sunday before last (May 6).

  • A moped was stolen from the garden of a house in Headington.

Between 9pm on Thursday and 6am on Friday the red Honda Vision was taken from outside the property in Masons Road.

  • Thieves stole a blue Audi RS6 sports car from a home near Banbury.

Thames Valley Police said that the theft of the vehicle, which retails at £79,000, happened in the village of Balscote.

It happened at about 1.30am on Friday, May 4, and the registration plate is X29 MJW.
