YOU’RE never to old for toys - and what better way to show that than reminiscing over 100 years worth of classic games, models and collectables at this year’s Didcot and Oxfordshire Toy Fair.

Hundreds of old toy classics from year’s gone by lined up to100 tables of toys at this year’s fair.

The event boasted a big selection of nostalgic collectibles that decorated Didcot Civic Hall on Saturday.

People filtered into the hall to sift through the toys from times gone, plus games, model railways, action figures, die-cast models and all manner of collectibles to jog many memories.

One firm favourite which was on hand to attract buyers attentions was the notable Hornby train sets in their original boxes.

Elsewhere there was an array of collectibles from German toy company Wilesco, plus other names such as Triang, Shuco and Mamod toys.

Event organisers Ronnie Davies and Time Pearson said the fair was successful in attracting both young and old fanatics in the crowds.

Mr Pearson said: "It is important for us as promoters to bring in both the older and younger crowds.

"We managed to do that which is obviously a bonus."

Mr Davies added: "We had toys from right across the board back to the 1900s all the way through to the 80s action figures.

"That is what local people seem to like when we cover all the generations, whatever you like.

"It isn't just about the collectibles it is about the nostalgia for many as well and that is why we get the families coming in to look through the various generations of toys."

The event is run by the pair who are toy collectors and enthusiasts themselves and it attracts visitors and traders from across Oxfordshire and beyond to enjoy some of the icons from their childhood.

It is organised through Retro Ronnie Fairs and started in Cirencester in 2014 before staging one in Didcot in 2015.

The popularity of the first fair in Didcot meant organisers continued to stage the fair throughout the years and it now takes place every three to four months in the town’s Civic Hall and will next take place on Saturday, May 26.
