TRAVELLERS who have been camped on council land at Water Eaton Park and Ride have until Saturday to leave.

Oxfordshire County Council owns the site and said it had got a repossession of the land in court this morning, ordering them to move.

The travellers set up at the site, near Oxford Parkway railway station, on January 20. They had been first been moved earlier that month.

Travellers are able to camp lawfully on six different sites operated by the council across Oxfordshire, as well as 21 privately-owned sites.

Previously the council said it is 'constrained by law' by how quickly it can move travellers on from its land – but wants more powers.
