THE final remains of a multi-storey car park will be razed to the ground at the end of the month.

The Bolton Road multi-storey car park in Banbury was demolished by Cherwell District Council in autumn 2016 after significant structural concerns were identified by an independent report.

A stairwell tower was left standing as part of the initial works because of telecoms mounted to the roof but this tower will now be taken down, creating ten more parking spaces.

The land is still operated as a car park which will remain open during the majority of the works which are planned from January 8 to March 16.

But it will need to close completely from January 29 to February 2 while demolition of the topmost section takes place.

Some 14 places will be reserved for a site office and the exit road will be reduced to one lane.

Drivers are being warned of short term disruption caused by dust being created during the demolition process.

From March 17 the car park will then reopen with the additional spaces.
