A DECISION on whether to ban lorries from passing through Burford is set to be delayed despite massive support.

Proposals to introduce a 7.5 tonne weight restriction on High Street were the subject of a recent consultation amid fears that heavy goods vehicles were causing damage to the historic town centre.

More than 140 people supported the plans while 67 objected.

However, the cabinet member for environment Yvonne Constance is preparing to defer the decision on Thursday so that further investigation into how the scheme would affect the surrounding road network could be conducted.
