A PHONE scam warning has been issued by police after an elderly Oxford man was tricked into giving his bank account details.
He received a call from a man claiming to be from his bank's fraud department who said he was investigating staff at the local branch who might be stealing from accounts.
The victim was asked to transfer money into a ‘dummy account’ to keep the money safe. It was only when he went to the bank to withdraw large amounts of money that staff became suspicious and raised the alarm.
